Volleyball at Miss State/Ole Miss Preview Auburn (10-14, 1-11 SEC) at Mississippi State (2-20, 1-11 SEC) Against Miss. State, History Says... Auburn holds a 21-8 record against the Lady Bulldogs since 1986. MSU was the opponent that the Tigers defeated to snap their 42-match conference losing streak on Oct. 26 in Auburn. When the match is contested in the Magnolia State, AU holds a 9-5 advantage in the series, though MSU has taken the last two meetings at State and five of the last seven encounters overall. Prior to that, AU had collected six consecutive wins over the Lady Bulldogs. Against Ole Miss, History Says... The Tigers hold a 16-13 record against the Lady Rebels since 1986 and are 9-6 when the match is played in Oxford. However, UM has won the last three meetings with the Tigers in the Magnolia State and the last seven tilts overall. Prior to Ole Miss' current run of wins, AU had rattled off eight straight wins. On These Two Dates... Auburn is playing on the 7th of November for the sixth time since 1986. AU is 3-2 in those five previous matches, with the last contest taking place in 1993, when the Tigers downed Mississippi State, 3-0, at Auburn. As for the 9th of November, Auburn is 2-2 in contests played on that date. The last time the Tigers took the court on the 9th of November was in 2001, falling to Arkansas, 3-0. Table Setter AU freshman Maira Mogollon has helped guide the rest of her teammates to new heights thanks in part to her magnificent setting. Through 85 games, Mogollon has collected 946 assists for a 11.13 assists per game average. At Mogollon's current pace of 39 assists per match, she is projected to finish the season with 1,104 assists on the year, based on 28 matches. That would make her the first AU player to top the 1,000 assist mark for a season since Traci Price set up 1352 kills in 1999. Her assist number already represents 114 percent of Auburn's total assists from the 2002 season. Going the Distance Auburn's five-game match win over Jacksonville State in the War Eagle Invitational clincher was the first five-game match win for the Tigers since the Tigers outlasted Kentucky on Oct. 20, 2000. For the season, the Tigers have played in four five-game thrillers, splitting them with a 2-2 record. The last time the Tigers played as many as four five-game matches was in 2000 when AU went the distance in six matches, going 2-4. The AU record for five-game matches in a season is 10, set both in 1991 and 1994.
