Auburn Softball Hosts Arkansas in Tuesday Double-header
March 17, 2008
Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn softball team will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in a Southeastern Conference double-header Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field. Children 14 and under will be able to take part in an Easter Egg hunt in between games. In addition to candy-filled eggs, there will be six golden eggs for softball prize packs. The prize packs feature a stuffed "Donkey" character from the movie "Shrek". "This is a great matchup," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Arkansas is a good hitting team and they are really swinging the bats well. We are throwing the ball really well, so we are going to have to be that much better against them." The Tigers are 25-4 overall and 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The Razorbacks come into Tuesday's game with a 21-9 overall record and a 0-5 mark in the SEC. Auburn is coming off a three-game sweep of the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford this past weekend. The Auburn pitching staff allowed only two unearned runs in 25 innings of work during the series. The staff gave up only 15 hits, all singles, against the Rebels and had 34 strikeouts. Offensively, the Tigers were led by Myesha Finney and Taryn Gray who drove in three runs apiece. Finney hit .375 for the series, while Gray posted a .308 average. The Razorbacks hold a 19-18 series edge over the Tigers, but Auburn has won three straight and 12 of the last 13 games in the series.
