Nov. 20, 2007
AUBURN, Ala. - Jenn Johnson has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Soccer Second Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Johnson, a junior from Loganville, Ga., carries a 4.0 in psychology with a minor in criminology and has started all 61 games of her Auburn career. A defender, she played every minute this season for Auburn, which went 10-8-2 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Playing as both a center- and outside back, she collected one point this season, assisting on Gabi Rivera's second-half goal in AU's 2-0 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. "It is really rewarding to be recognized for my accomplishments on and off the field," Johnson said. "Both academics and soccer take up a lot of time and to be honored like this is very fulfilling." Johnson becomes the third Auburn soccer player to be recognized nationally for her work on the field and in the classroom, joining defender Dawn Dunbar (1997) and defender Erin Hinson (2003) as Second Team Academic All-Americans. Johnson joined Arkansas defender Allison Harris (second team), Alabama midfielder Kailey Corken (third team) and South Carolina forward Erin Sullivan (third team) as SEC representatives on one of the three teams.
