Jenn Johnson And Kara Kasten Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team

AUBURN, Ala. - Junior soccer players Jenn Johnson and Kara Kasten have both been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for District IV, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday morning.

Johnson, from Loganville, Ga., carries a 4.0 in criminology and psychology. Having started 58 consecutive contests for Auburn on the backline, she is the only Southeastern Conference defensive player named to the first team in the district. This is the second straight season that Johnson has been named to the district's first team.

Kasten, from Marietta, Ga., owns a 3.87 GPA in finance and accounting with a minor in Spanish. A starter in all 17 games this season, she is currently third on the team with four assists and is tied for third with eight points. She is the only SEC forward on the district's first team.

Junior goalkeeper Allison Whitworth was also recognized for her work in the classroom and on the field as she was named to the District IV Third Team. A senior academically from Birmingham, she has a 3.86 in psychology while starting all 17 games in net this season for Auburn and owning a 1.09 goals against average.

Johnson and Kasten will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Other SEC schools in the region include Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
