Auburn junior Lindsey Puckett and Julie Dwyer finished first and third in the all-around competition, however, it wasn't enough as the Tigers fell to Kentucky, 193.450-191.950, in both team's season opener at Memorial Coliseum Saturday.

"I don't know if it was first meet jitters, but not one of our six bar routines looked like it does every day in practice," said AU head coach Jeff Thompson. "With two out-right falls combined with other little mistakes we had a slow start to the meet, making it difficult to recover."

Auburn fell behind early, dropping both the uneven bars and vault competitions, however, the Tigers pulled within .175 of the Cats after the third rotation when AU scored a 48.375 on floor and UK scored 48.200 on beam.

In the last rotation, Auburn scored a 47.825 on beam and the Cats had a three-way tie for first on floor with a 9.850, and won the meet.

Junior Puckett led the Tigers in each event and took first place in the all-around. She placed first on bars, first on beam, second on vault and second on floor. Dwyer took second in the all-around.

Puckett scored 9.775 on bars. Senior Dwyer followed with a 9.625. Freshman Shannon Walpole, who debuted on bars, scored a 9.550.

Puckett took the top vault spot for Auburn with a 9.825. Dwyer followed with a 9.725 and Krissy Voss scored 9.650.

Puckett scored a 9.800 on floor, followed by Dwyer with a 9.750 and Seiffert with a 9.700. Freshman Katie Hurley debuted on floor with a 9.525.

On beam, Puckett led with a 9.775 followed by Dwyer with a 9.750. A.J. Mills scored 9.675

Auburn will be back in action for their home season opener on Jan. 18, to face cross-state rival Alabama at 7 p.m. Auburn will be hosting its annual "Pink Meet" to raise breast cancer awareness. An auction will be held to raise money for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation.

Gymnastics regular season tickets are available at www.auburntigers.com. Adult season passes are $20 and youth passes are $8. Family packages of four season passes are available for $48. Single match tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Admission is free for Auburn students with a valid ID.
