Equestrian Rides To A National Championship In Hunt Seat

Waco, Texas- The Auburn equestrian team won its first National Championship Saturday in Hunt Seat, 5-2, defeating second-seed Texas A&M at the 2008 Varsity Equestrian National Championships. In individual championships, both Julie Gibbes and Rebecca Rifkin lost in their opening rounds. This is the second National Championship for Auburn; the Tigers previously won the overall National Championship in 2006.

Auburn won Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences 2-1 defeating Texas A&M. Tiger winners included Jessica Braswell over Lindsay Smith 162-146 and Ali Loprete over Katie Henion 166-162. Aggie winners included Kristi Waldal over Anna Schierholz 165-161. Tying with a score of 157 were Auburn's Dottie Grubb and Texas A&M's Erin Ivy. MORE
