AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn men's golf team will travel to Birmingham to take part in The Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at the par-70, 6,934-yard Old Overton Golf Club with 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday.

Senior Glenn Northcutt will play the No. 1 position for the Tigers, returning from two top-11 finishes in the Carpet Capital Collegiate and the Shoal Creek Invitational. Freshman John Stembridge occupies the No. 2 spot, junior Cole Moreland is in the No. 3, redshirt freshman Cory Gilmer is in the No. 4 and freshman Kyle Kopsick is in the No. 5.

"This is a great tournament," said head coach Mike Griffin. "That's why we keep coming back. It won't be our first trip to Old Overton but we've only got one player who has competed on this course for us -- that's Glenn Northcutt. Glenn has been playing like we expected. He's been solid through the first two trips.

"Some of our younger guys have stepped us and shown us some good rounds. We need that. Every round of every tournament we have to work on improving our game as these young guys get more and more experience under their belts."

The 12-team field features No. 10 Alabama, Auburn, UAB, Baylor, Georgia State, Memphis, North Carolina, UNC-Wilmington, North Florida, No. 8 UNLV, Samford and SMU.

Auburn is making its 18th appearance in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, finished second on three occasions. Last year at the Jerry Pate, Auburn All-American Jay Moseley fired 12-under 201, the lowest 54-hole score in school history.
