ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Auburn men's golf team will play in the NCAA East Regional at the par-72, 7,017-yard Lakeside Course at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta Thursday through Saturday in a field that includes nine of the nation's top 25 teams.

Auburn's lineup includes sophomore All-SEC Glenn Northcutt, who has a 72.61 stroke average, in the No. 1 position, junior All-SEC Patton Kizzire (72.97) in the No. 2 slot followed by junior Jamie Bowen (74.06) at No. 3. Junior Jay Moseley (74.26) will play in the No. 4 position, and junior Steven Groover (79.00) will play in his second tournament of the year at No. 5.

"I feel like the guys are excited about going to Regionals," head coach Mike Griffin said. "It's been a long year. Their hard work is starting to pay off. We have been playing better as we come down the stretch. I think for the most part, Glenn and Patton have been playing well for most of the year, and now the other guys are finally turning the corner. They are putting good numbers up, just like we expected of them. That is very important to us right now, because it is going to take a full team effort in order to play well in this championship."

The East Regional teams in order of seeding include No. 1 Georgia, No. 11 Clemson, No. 7 Florida, No. 12 Coastal Carolina, No. 10 Georgia Tech, Georgia State, No. 20 Charlotte, No. 23 North Carolina, No. 25 Florida State, No. 24 Duke, Auburn, Ole Miss, Chattanooga, UAB, Central Florida, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Old Dominion, Jacksonville State and Louisiana-Lafayette to round out the top 20. St. John's is the 21st-seed followed by Eastern Michigan, Maryland, Longwood, Rhode Island, Hartford and Boston College.

Individuals in the East Regional in order of seeding include Jacksonville's Duncan Stewart, Campbell's Frederic Sundberg, Middle Tennessee's Chris Narramore, Western Carolina's Matt Cook, Jacksonville's Russell Knox and North Florida's Jeff Dennis.

Auburn is making its eighth-consecutive Regional appearance and 17th overall in the last 19 years. The Tigers have advanced to the NCAA Championship in each of their last four East Regional appearances.

"Regionals are always fun," Griffin said. "You don't have to win, but you have to play well. Although for the most part, when you go to these tournaments, you better think about trying to win."

The top 10 teams and two individuals not on those teams qualify for the 110th NCAA Men's Golf Championship at the Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, Va., May 30-June 2. Following Wednesday's practice round, Auburn will begin first round play Thursday off the No. 10 tee at 11:35 am CT with Ole Miss and Duke. The same three teams will be paired in Friday's second round. Saturday's final round pairings will be according to the teams' finish following the second round.
