TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 12 Auburn men's golf team (289-862) finished second behind host No. 11 Florida State (285-858) in the Seminole Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,041-yard Golden Eagle Country Club Monday.

Senior Jay Moseley (70-209) finished second, three shots off the individual lead. Senior Steven Groover (73-218) and junior Glenn Northcutt (71-218) tied for 14th followed by senior Jaime Bowen (75-219), tied for 19th, and sophomore Cole Moreland (75-220), tied for 27th.

Senior Patton Kizzire (80-229), competing individually, tied for 51st.

"We came close today," said head coach Mike Griffin. "We took the lead but gave it right back to Florida State. It was a good tournament and a good field. We just left too many shots on the course."

Trailing Auburn were No. 20 North Carolina (290-866), Virginia (294-866), Louisville (288-873), Vanderbilt (281-873), No. 25 UAB (286-873), Ole Miss (304-882), LSU (297-889), Charleston (290-894), Maryland (307-899) and No. 23 Mississippi State (304-900).

Vanderbilt's Jon Curran (70-68-68--206) claimed the individual championship followed by Moseley in second and UAB's Zach Sucher (68-210) and North Carolina's Kevin O'Connell (72-210) tied for third.

The Tigers return to action March 14-16 at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
