Ben Grubbs Named To The Associated Press All-America Second Team
Dec. 13, 2006 AUBURN - Auburn senior offensive guard Ben Grubbs has been named to the Associated Press All-America Second Team, it was announced. Grubbs, who hails from Eclectic, Ala., earned second-team status after starting in all 12 regular season games for Auburn this season and the past 37 straight. He was named the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Lineman of the Week twice this season - the only player in the league to do so - collecting the honor Sept. 11 after Auburn's 34-0 win over Mississippi State and Nov. 9 after a 27-0 win over Arkansas State. He was graded better than 90 percent in eight of Auburn's first 11 games this season. The honor comes a week after Grubbs was selected to the AP All-SEC First Team and Coaches All-SEC Second Team. He has also been recognized as a Rivals.com All-American. Grubbs' honor marks the third straight season at least one Tiger has been named to the AP All-America team. In 2005, offensive tackle Marcus McNeill earned first-team honors. In 2004, cornerback Carlos Rogers was named to the first team while McNeill, Junior Rosegreen and Carnell Williams were selected to the second team. The Tigers will meet Nebraska Jan. 1 in the 71st annual AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. The game kicks off at 10:40 a.m. CT at Cotton Bowl Stadium and will air live on FOX.
