Auburn, Ala. - Less than 12 hours after holding its second scrimmage of fall camp, the Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Saturday morning with a quick, but productive, 90-minute session on the Athletic Complex practice fields. The Tigers spent the first two-thirds of the practice working on individual drills before wrapping up the shells practice with team periods.

After having a chance to review film from Saturday's practice, both offensive coordinator Al Borges and defensive coordinator Will Muschamp evaluated their respective unit's play.

"We got better last night," Borges said. "I'm not sure I could say that after last week. In terms of coming off the ball, targeting the front and knowing who to block, we were considerably better. Technique, we still have a little ways to go.

"Brandon (Cox) played very well and only had a couple of errors, but nothing major," Borges said. "Blake (Field) had a great week of practice, but not as good of a scrimmage. Kodi (Burns), whose head is completely spinning, did some nice things, but he is going through information overload. Overall, it was a step in the right direction."

Muschamp highlighted the fact that the Tigers had just six missed tackles and were able to create five fumbles.

"I thought we did some good things and improved in some areas," Muschamp said. "There were several positives things. We tackled really well and only had six missed tackles in 120 snaps, which is really good. We caused five fumbles and we're a very good ball secure team offensively, so that was very positive. We also rushed the passer well with four guys."

The Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll was released Saturday, with Auburn checking in at 18th. The Tigers will play four teams ranked in the AP poll, all road games, at No. 2 LSU, No. 5 Florida, No. 13 Georgia, and No. 21 Arkansas. USC was tabbed as the writers' No.1 followed by LSU, West Virginia, Texas and Michigan.

Auburn returns to the practice fields Sunday evening 6:45 p.m. CT on the Athletic Complex practice fields.

The Tigers open the 2007 season on Sept. 1 against Kansas State in Jordan-Hare Stadium. ESPN will televise the game, which will kick off at 6:45 p.m.
