HOOVER, Ala. - Head coach Tommy Tuberville, senior center Jason Bosley and junior defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks represented Auburn Friday at the Southeastern Conference Football Media Days in Hoover, Ala. The Tigers fielded questions from various media outlets for more than two hours during the final day of the three-day event.

Tuberville talked about the success Auburn has had in recent seasons, and what it takes to compete for SEC Championships.

"We've been pretty consistent," Tuberville said. "We've won 50 games in the last five years. Again, we've been one or two plays away from getting to Atlanta. That's what we all want to do, then have a chance to win there.

"I think we've got to score more points on offense. There's no doubt about it. We've got to average scoring, get into the 20s somewhere, mid 20s, in every game. If we can do that, we can help our defense much more.

"I think that if you go back and look at us defensively, to have a championship football team, you can't give up big plays in a game. The games that we lost last year, we gave up too many 15 and 20 yard runs."

Bosley was asked repeatedly about the impact the new offense under Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin will have.

"I can see a big difference," said Bosley. "It is fast pace now, which is a complete 180 degree turn around. We use to run them down and now it is wear them out. It is nice to focus on the tempo pick-up."

Marks will also be playing for a new coordinator, and was asked about Paul Rhoads.

""It is a lot different than last year and there is a lot of intensity," said Marks. "There is more coaching on the field. He will stop practice and come out to field and coach. There is more relaxing time too, but when it is time to play, we do it."

The Tigers will open practice for the 2008 season on Aug. 2, which will also be the date of Fan Day Presented by Golden Flake, which will be held from 3-5 p.m. CT in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.
