Matthew Motley

July 18, 2006

Auburn junior Matthew Motley played in all 12 games for the Tigers in 2005, serving as the team's holder on field goals and extra points. Motley attended Opelika High School before joining Auburn.

Motley sat down with www.auburntigers.com and discussed a former teammate, the best advice he's received and his most prized possession.

AuburnTigers.com: What will you miss the most when you leave Auburn?
Matthew Motley: "My teammates. You grow close to the people that you are around a lot. You hang out with them and go out with them. You gain good friendships and I will definitely miss that."

AU: Out of all your teammates (former or current) who would make the best president?
MM: "Bret Eddins. I don't know who it would be from this team but from previous years, it would be him. He is good at working the crowd."

AU: What is the best part about going to local schools and reading to children?
MM: "Their reactions. They don't care what you are reading to them; they just see a jersey and are wide-eyed. All of the kids want to play something one day so they look up to you."

AU: What is something that few people know about you?
MM: "I am pretty `out there.' Most people know what is going on with me and know most everything about me."

AU: What is the best advice you have ever received?
MM: "To always do my best in whatever I do. It doesn't matter if it is school or football, but you always need to do your best."

AU: What is your most prized possession?
MM: "My Bible because I always try to live by it."

AU: If you could plan your perfect day, what would you do from start to finish?
MM: "My perfect day would include having the Super Bowl, game seven of the NBA Finals and game seven of the World Series all happening in the same day. I would watch sports all day."

AU: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
MM: "I will be 31 and I will hopefully be a nurse anesthetists working in a hospital somewhere."

AU: If you couldn't play football, what sport would you choose to play?
MM: "Basketball. I played my freshman year of high school but I had to give it up because I was still playing football and baseball at the same time. It wasn't my least favorite of the three, but I had to give it up for different reasons. We play all the time now and it is fun."

AU: If you could give any piece of advice to an incoming freshman, what would it be and why?
MM: "Don't get behind because I know that a lot of freshmen do that. If you get behind, then it is really hard to catch up."
