Jerraud Powers bio in PDF Format

Auburn junior defensive back Jerraud Powers will forgo his senior year and make himself eligible for the 2009 National Football League Draft.

A Decatur, Ala., native, Powers started in 23 games in his career, making 136 tackles and six interceptions.

In 2008, Powers started in 10 games and finished sixth on Auburn's team with 47 total tackles. He also intercepted two passes and was ninth in the SEC in passes defended.

"I want to thank the Auburn nation for their support during my career," Powers said. "It was a very tough decision, but I did what God wanted me to do and what was best for my family and me. I'm thankful for my time at Auburn and will have nothing but fond memories."

During his sophomore season, Powers started in all 13 contests, finishing fourth on the team with 63 tackles and tied for the team lead with four interceptions. For his efforts, was the recipient of the Zeke Smith Award, presented annually to Auburn's top defender.

A 5-9, 191-pounder, Powers was a Coaches Freshman All-SEC recipient after tallying 26 tackles and four pass deflections in 13 contests.

Powers helped Auburn's defense to a No. 14 ranking nationally in scoring defense (18.0 ppg) and No. 29 ranking in total defense (317.8 ypg).
