Madden Named to ABCA All-South Region First Team
June 15, 2005 AUBURN, Ala. -- Reliever John Madden was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Region team, it was announced on Wednesday. Madden was the only relief pitcher named to the first team. Madden, Auburn's first man out of the bullpen, finished his senior season on the Plains with a 6-2 mark with 7 saves and a league-best 1.77 ERA. In 86 1/3 innings of work, he struck out 58 batters while walking just 19. His ERA ranks seventh in the nation this season while his 44 appearances were the most of any Tiger pitcher. Last week he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Madden has already been named to the All-SEC first team by both the league coaches and SEBaseball.com and was a Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American Third Team selection. 2005 ABCA All-South Region First Team Catcher: Brad Willcutt, Sr., Southern Miss 2005 ABCA All-South Region Second Team Catcher: Henry Gutierrez, Sr., Troy
