AUBURN -- Auburn junior infielder Chuck Jeroloman was the fourth Tiger selected in the 2004 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft when the Boston Red Sox selected him in the 21st round on Tuesday.
Jeroloman, from Wellington, Fla., has been the Tigers starting shortstop for 170 games over the past three years. His best offensive season came in 2004 when he hit .270 with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 37 runs batted in. Heading into this season he was listed in Baseball America's College Preview edition as the SEC's infielder with the best arm.
Jeroloman joins Steven Register (Colorado Rockies), Sean Gamble (Philadelphia Phillies) and Tug Hulett (Texas Rangers) as Tigers who were drafted this season.
It is the eighth straight season that at least four Tigers have been drafted. The last time that did not occur was in 1996 when just two from Auburn heard their name called.
