AUBURN --- Steve Renfroe has been relieved of his duties as head baseball coach at Auburn University, AU Interim President Ed Richardson announced today.

"We appreciate the years of service Steve has provided to Auburn, but after looking at the program closely I felt it was time to make a change," Richardson said. "We will begin the search for a new baseball coach immediately."

In four seasons as head coach, Renfroe posted an overall record of 145-92 and a conference mark of 60-60. This season, Auburn finished with an overall record of 32-24 and a record of 12-18 in SEC play.

Renfroe served as an assistant at Auburn from 1981-94 and was the assistant head coach from 1995-2000. He was named head coach on Sept. 1, 1999.
