Madden Named to Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American Third Team June 2, 2005 AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn reliever John Madden was named to the Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American Third Team on Thursday afternoon. Madden, who finished the regular season with a 6-2 mark with seven saves, has posted a 1.64 ERA in 76.2 innings of work with his ERA ranking seventh in the nation heading into NCAA Regional play. He has struck out 50 batters while allowing just six extra-base hits all year. A senior, he has appeared in a team-leading 41 games with opponents hitting just .240 against him, the second-best mark on the Auburn pitching staff. Madden was one of three relievers on the third team and was one of just six relief pitchers named to all of the teams combined. The teams were chosen on performances up to regional playoffs and picked by the staff of Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
