FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Chuck Jeroloman doubled twice and drove in four runs and Auburn starter Steven Register improved to 7-0 as the Tigers defeated No. 12 Arkansas, 7-4, before 8,153 fans at Baum Stadium Saturday.  Auburn evened the series and improved to 32-23 and 12-17 in league action.  Arkansas fell to 36-19 and 18-11.

Register, making his third career start, picked up the win after allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings. Madison, Ala., native Chris Dennis held the Razorbacks scoreless over the final three innings for his second save of the year.

"That was an outstanding win for this team," said Auburn head coach Steve Renfroe.  "Steven (Register) really stepped up and Chris (Dennis) pitched well to close it out.  It was a great battle in an atmosphere that's difficult to win in.  Chuck Jeroloman also had two big doubles in key situations."

Despite the win, the Tigers were eliminated from the SEC Tournament race as Tennessee rallied to defeat Florida, 9-7, in Knoxville, for the eighth and final slot. Auburn will now play Sunday in hopes of an NCAA Regional berth.

Arkansas scored in the first inning on a Scott Hode two-out RBI single, however the Tigers took the lead for good with three runs on four hits in the second to take a 3-1 lead.

Josh Bell and Sean Gamble led off the Tigers' second with back-to-back singles setting up a Jeroloman two-run double to left center.  Jeroloman advanced to third on Derek Sain's sacrifice and scored on Mike Hnytka's single up the middle.

The Tigers took a 5-1 lead in the third inning on a pair of runs.  The first four batters reached safely as J.T. Williamson scored from second on a throwing error by Razorback starter Charley Boyce and Sean Gamble posted an RBI single scoring Clete Thomas.

Scott Bridges hit a two-run, two-out homer to left field with in the fourth inning and Jake Dugger's ground out RBI scoring Scott Bridges in the sixth made it a one-run game, 5-4.

Jeroloman tallied his second two-run double in the seventh with a drive over the head of center fielder Casey Rowlett scoring Bell and pinch runner Bruce Edwards, giving the Tigers a three-run lead.

Boyce (7-2) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs, four earned in two innings.  Trey Holloway gave up two runs in 4 2/3 innings of relief and Boyd Goodner held the Tigers scoreless over the final 2 1/3 innings.

Sunday's rubber game starts at 12:30 p.m. CT at Baum Stadium.
