OSAKA, Japan - Kerron Stewart finished seventh in a very tight women's 100m final to highlight the action for four former members of the Auburn men's and women's track and field teams at the IAAF World Championships Monday.

Stewart finished with a time of 11.12 seconds in a race in which the top seven finishers were separated by just .11 seconds. Stewart's Jamaican teammate, Veronica Cambell, was the winner in 11.01 seconds. Stewart, who won three NCAA individual titles for Auburn in 2007, had reached the final by finishing third in her semifinal heat earlier in the evening with a time of 11.12 seconds.

Another member of the 2007 Auburn track and field team, Donald Thomas, advanced to the finals of the men's high jump. Thomas, the 2007 NCAA indoor champion, cleared 2.29m on his third and final attempt to become one of 15 athletes that will jump in the finals on Wednesday.

Former Tiger Vonette Dixon advanced to the semifinals of the women's 100m hurdles, finishing third in her opening round heat with a time of 12.77 seconds. The semifinals will be held Tuesday.

In the women's long jump, former Tiger Elva Goulbourne was unable to advance to the finals. Goulbourne fouled on two of her three attempts, and her only legal jump was measured at 6.32m, which was only good enough for 14th in her flight.

Competition at the World Championships continues through Sept. 2.
