AUBURN - Six current and former members of the Auburn track and field teams will compete at the United States Olympic Team Trials June 27-July 6 in Eugene, Ore.

Four seniors on the 2008 men's team that finished tied for second nationally will be in attendance. Cory Martin will compete in the hammer throw and shot put - two events in which he won the NCAA championship earlier this month in Des Moines, Iowa. He will be joined in the hammer throw by Jacob Dunkleberger, who placed second this hear in that event at the NCAA Championships after winning the title in 2007.

Auburn will also have two hurdlers competing. Ty Akins will run in the 110-meter hurdles after finishing second in that event at the NCAA meet this year and winning the 2007 NCAA title. Reuben McCoy will compete in the 400-meter hurdles after also finishing second at the NCAA Championships earlier this month.

For the women, rising senior Raevan Harris will compete in the high jump after finishing third in that event in Des Moines. Markita James, the 2006 NCAA Champion in the 400-meter hurdles, will compete in that event in Eugene.

McCoy and James will compete in the opening round of the 400m hurdles on Friday, as will Martin in the shot put. The shot put finals are Saturday, while the 400m semifinals are Saturday with finals to follow on Sunday.

The hammer throw and high jump competitions begin next Monday, June 30, with finals to take place on July 4. Akins will have two rounds of the 110m hurdles on July 5, with the final two rounds to take place July 6.

There will be live television coverage on a number of days during the trails. NBC will broadcast live from 7-8 p.m. CT on June 28, from 6-7 p.m. on June 29, from 4-5 p.m. on July 5 and from 6-8 p.m. on July 6. USA will have live coverage from 11-12 p.m. CT on June 28, from 10-12 p.m. on June 30, from 10-12 p.m. on July 3 and from 10-12 p.m. on July 4.
