Day 2 Meet Notes
Auburn opens day two by finishing fifth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.35
Swimming on the medley relay was Margo McCawley (back), Kara Denby (breast), Alana Dillette (fly) and Emile Ewing (free)
The Tigers finished third in the event in 2007 and fifth in 2006
Arizona won the event with a NCAA record time of 1:35.29
Ava Ohlgren breaks her own Auburn record with a time of 4:04.07, besting her old time of 4:04.08 by one-hundredth of a second, as she finishes second in the 400 IM
Ohlgren was unable to repeat after winning the event last year
From Ohlgren: "Hey, a best time is a best time. I raced hard, but it was not as smooth and relaxed as my 200 IM. I'm happy with how I finished, though."
Winning the 400 IM was Stanford's Julia Smit with a time of 4:02.41
Emily Kukors led Auburn in the 200 free, making the finals for the fourth time in her career and finishing fourth with a time of 1:44.47 almost a full second faster than her prelims time
Kukors finished second in the 200 free last season
Senior Kara Denby became just the second Auburn swimmer ever to break a minute in the 100 breast as she won the B Final with a time of 59.99
Freshman Melanie Roberts also swam a career best in the 100 breast, clocking a 1:01.03 in the consolation final for a time that ranks fifth all-time at Auburn
Denby and Roberts were the first Auburn swimmers to make one of the finals in the 100 breast since Denby accomplished the feat as a freshman in 2005, finishing 10th overall
Melissa Marik won the 100 back consolation final with a time of 53.31; a mark that ranks fifth all-time at Auburn
Also competing in the 100 back B Final were Julianne McLane (54.04) and Margo McCawley (54.23), finishing 13th and 14th overall, respectively
Auburn's Rachel Goh won the 100 back in 2007 with a time of 51.97
Despite having the top seed coming into the 800 free relay, Auburn finishes eighth with a time of 7:06.71
Arizona won the 800 free relay with a time of 6:58.69, joining Auburn as the only two teams ever to break the seven-minute barrier; Auburn set its time of 6:57.28 last month at the SEC Championships
