Freshman Season (2007-08)
Competed in the 100m fly, 200m fly, 200m IM and 400m IM at the 2008 Olympic Trials... Finished 19th in the 200 IM (2:03.17), 22nd in the 200 fly (2:00.88), 34th in the 100 fly (54.30) and 49th in the 400 IM (4:32.44)... At the NCAA Championships in Federal Way, Wash., Mitchell earned two honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 fly and 400 IM... Swam to two 13th-place finishes in the 200 fly (1:44.78) and the 400 IM (3:48.72), and a 19th-place finish in the 200 IM (1:46.33)... At the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Mitchell place fifth in the finals of the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.11... Also swam in two consolation finals, finishing ninth in the 200 fly (1:45.05) and 12th in the 400 IM (3:51.92)... His time of 3:48.72 in the 400 IM ranks seventh all-time at Auburn.

Attended Brentwood High School and swam for the Nashville Aquatic Club... Was the Tennessee state champion in the 200 IM in 2006 and 2007... Is the Southeastern record holder in the 400 IM... Selected to the 2005 USA Swimming National Select Camp... Finished third in the 400m IM B Final at the U.S. Senior National Championships with a time of 4:25.14, swam a 4:24.43 in prelims...Came in fourth in the 200m IM B Final with a time of 2:04.00... Also swam the freestyle leg in the 400m medley relay and the leadoff in the 800m free relay.
