GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

Dear Prospective Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer:
Thank you for your interest in Auburn University and our Sports Medicine Program. In order for our staff to process your application, you must first complete the information/application form. You must contact the graduate school to obtain a copy of the Auburn University Bulletin and graduate school application. Please send us your resume, information/application form, three letters of recommendation, unofficial undergraduate transcripts, and an unofficial copy of your GRE scores.

Here are some pertinent facts in relation to becoming a Graduate Assistants at Auburn University:

1. Although applications are accepted all year, Graduate Assistants are hired each spring semester. The application deadline is December 12, 2008.

2. NATA certification is required prior to the August start date.

3. The Graduate School and each individual Master's Program have very specific entrance requirements. The requirements are based on a combination of your GRE scores and your cumulative grade point average. You must score a minimum of 400 on the following equation to be admitted to the graduate school.

(Verbal GRE + (2 x Quantitative) + (1500 x GPA - 1))/ 10

4. Currently, Graduate Assistants are assigned to one sport, but have additional training room and other administrative responsibilities.

5. Travel is required with your sport assignment.

6. Mandatory participation and attendance during monthly in-services.

7. Graduate Assistant positions are for one year, with the possibility of a second year (based on performance, attitude, and academic progress).

8. You will be required to work during the summer (camps, etc...).
