Dr. Michael Goodlett has dedicated 16 years of service to Auburn University, serving as the Head Team Physician for AU athletics. In addition to his commitment to providing excellent sports medicine care for all Auburn student-athletes, he also functions as a liaison between AU and Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Lawrence Lemak of Alabama Sports Medicine. His secondary duties include serving as an affiliate professor in the school of Health and Human Performance. Originally from Florence, AL, Dr. Goodlett graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL, with a bachelor of science in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University Of South Alabama College Of Medicine in Mobile, AL with a Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Goodlett completed his family medicine residency training at University of Alabama-Birmingham/Baptist Memorial Hospital followed by a fellowship with the American Board of Family Practice. He is a certified Team Physician-American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Goodlett began his medical career with the Etowah County Hospice Organization), where he held the position of medical director. He has also worked with the East Gadsden Clinic & Jacksonville State University, with responsibility as their team physician coordinating care of JSU student-athletes. In 1990, Goodlett was appointed as medical director of the Auburn University Health Center, staying there until attaining his current position. Dr. Goodlett served as a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. His professional affiliations include the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society; American Medical Society; Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Lee County Medical Society. Dr. Goodlett is married to the former Donna Webster of Tanner, Ala., and has two children, Haley and Hunter. |
