Cathie Helmbold Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director/Student-Athlete Support Services

AUBURN - Cathie Helmbold has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director/Student-Athlete Support Services, announced Athletics Director Jay Jacobs. "Cathie has been a tremendous asset to Auburn University and our Academic Student Support Services," said Jacobs. "I look forward to her continued positive impact as we pursue excellence in academics and all phases of development." Helmbold will be the chief of staff and will help direct and supervise every aspect of student-athlete support services. She serves as the academic counselor for the soccer and womens golf teams and has been the liaison between Camp War Eagle and Student-Athlete Support Services. "The promotion of Cathie Helmbold to Assistant Athletic Director is a testament to the quality of individual who engages Auburn University," said Virgil Starks, Sr. Associate Athletic Director/Student Services. "Having been an undergraduate and a graduate intern in our office and her professional appointment since that time is a validation of the commitment to professional development and commitment to diversity that exists in the Auburn Athletic Department. Cathie adds value to our program." Helmbold was an academic counselor at Auburn from September 1999 until August 2002 when she became an administrative assistant/coordinator for the women*s basketball staff at Georgia Tech until December 2003. She returned to Auburn as an academic counselor in February 2004. Helmbold has earned two degrees from Auburn University including a Bachelors in Psychology and a Master*s of Education in Community Agency Counseling. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor.
