McWhorter Center for Women's Athletics

McWhorter_03 The McWhorter Center for Women's Athletics officially opened its doors in January of 2001. The 44,000 square foot building is home to the Auburn University Softball team and the Gymnastics team. Located directly behind the right field wall of the Softball Complex, the facility contains the following:

Locker Room: The carpeted locker room area has wooden lockers for each student-athlete, individually stalled showers, restrooms, as well as a state-of-the-art stereo system. The door of the locker room is coded to give the softball players access to the locker room at all times.

Team Lounge: The lounge contains a 51" big screen television, a VCR for viewing game tapes, and a computer with internet access for homework, research, and e-mail. Chairs, tables, and a couch provide a great atmosphere for team meetings and post-game events.

Equipment Storage Area: All of the team equipment such as uniforms, practice clothing, bats, gloves, running shoes, and softball cleats are issued from here.

Athletic Training Room: The training room consists of taping tables, a whirlpool, ice machine, and various rehabilitation equipment. Student Athletes use the training room before and after practices and games. The softball team has a full time certified athletic trainer to supervise all activities.

Coaches Offices: Each softball coach has their own office in the McWhorter Center. The offices are located on the second floor of the building and have windows and a balcony that overlook the softball complex from right field.

Laundry Room: The laundry facility is directly across the hall from the locker room. Players turn in all practice clothing and game uniforms to be washed.

The McWhorter Center for Women's Athletics provides some of the best resources to Auburn student athletes and we feel that it is one of the finest facilities in the country. It inspires a source of honor and pride to wear the orange and blue and be an Auburn Tiger!
